I finally have internet access.. but it's costing me 1 pound per 30 mins.. so you guys are costing me ;-)
Even though I am loving London and the shows and some people I meet, it hasn't been the best part of my trip to date.
I thought getting lost trying to find an ATM in Osaka was bad.. it's gotten worse, and I'm in a country that speaks english!
First my bag breaks on the train in Tokyo to the airport, spent forever arguing with the check-in people at Narita about how my ticket wasn't expired and I was booked on the flight, then when i get to Zurich my plane is delayed by nearly an hour (and nearly cancelled due to the weather), when i arrive in London the customs guy wanted to refuse me entry cause i spoke the truth and said I knew where I was staying but didn't know what Trish (Mary's sister) looked like and he thought i was on something (i was tired.. i had been on a plane for 13 hours!!), then the currency exchange people wouldn't accept my yen coins (have nearly 300 yen in coins left over.. grr), my backpack decided to break even more, none of the tube services have lifts so I had to drag my bag up hundreds of stairs, when i thought i was getting on track and near the station where i was staying.. the train terminated and i found out that trains weren't running to my station at all due to works so i wandered around some town i didn't know trying to find a taxi in the snow (which was a disaster).. finally got to the house and went to bed. And yes.. that was all in a day!
It doesn't end there though.. the damn post wouldn't deliver a present from home to me unless i paid for a custom tax which i never knew about. i could either pick it up today (thursday 24th) at the depot nearly an hour away and pay through the nose for the present, pay over the phone and have it delivered on tuesday at the earliest (no help as i'm in germany by then).. or just get it sent home. I got it sent home :-(
There is so much more negative stuff i could harp on about.. but i'm going to stop there as i am going to start writing new posts about what i have done since arriving.
