Today has been a non-stop day..
Decided to go visit the famous Den-Den Town and Shinsaibashi shopping area and boy was that an experience!
Den-Den Town is known as the electrical goods haven.. anything you want electrical wise, it's there. But i still had no luck finding a laptop cable. I found one for all other models but mine! Not cool..
I did notice though in Den-Den Town, nearly every 3rd store was a porn shop! And only 1/3 had a banner to cover their shop content at the door! It was so bizaar!
Shinsaibashi is a shopping haven. Apart from the undercover kms long strip of shops, there are 5 department stores (2 underground) connected to the strip. And around the corner from that is the street with the big-name brand stores like Apple, Louie Vutton, Tiffany and Co, Chanel, etc.
Found so many things i would have loved to have purchased.. but I'm worried about my budget and bag weight issues. I might tomorrow though head back and get a few small things.
Here's a few facts you may not know about Osaka.. there are no rubbish bins on the street, let alone rubbish.. their pedestrian crossings are not like those at home, cars wont stop even if you're walking on them!.. pokie machines in Japan are like arcade games, it's scary to see the hundreds of machines crammed into the one area and people playing them.. the ambulances here actually have a PA system on them that asks people to move out of the way, in the kindest manner of course :-P.. the bins at maccas are crazy, you have a bin for you food and paper rubbish but there is a second bin next to it that you pour your remaining bits of drink into before you throw out the cup!.. maccas has a fanta grape flavour, so addictive!.. traffic only ever runs in one direction around Shinsaibashi so a lot of one way streets.
Had an amazing dinner with Cassie tonight. She took me to this Mexican restaurant where the USJ crew always go to. It was nice to sit down with someone and be able to talk about similar interests. After dinner she had to do a bit of shopping, so i tagged along and we visited some of the funniest stores ever.
Thanks Cassie for showing me around town. :-)
I think that's all i wanted to talk about today.. so tired from all the walking.. been walking since 12pm today!

Hey kiddo,
ReplyDeletethis is a once in a lifetime adventure so follow your budget, but you should still try to buy a few things on the way. It is part of the fun and will provide memories each time you look at, or wear your purchases.
Sounds like this has been a great start to your trip. Hope it is not too cold.
