I don't know why.. but Christmas was such a non-event in London which surprised me.
Of course I wasn't celebrating as most of you know.. thanks to Royal mail for that decision.
Decided to skip Christmas and make it just another ordinary day.
Ended up walking the streets of London visiting as many west end theatres that i could before my foot began to ache. I even made it to a Christmas walking tour at Trafalgar square, but was an hour early.. waited around and camera and phone batteries died/were dying.. so i had to skip the walking tour and head back to the hostel to charge them.
On the way back i ended up stopping at a restaurant for 'non-Christmas' lunch.. good old fish and chips. Bonus was the restaurant was playing 'Jersey Boys' soundtrack in the background.
I was surprised at how many people were actually out in London on the day as nothing but a few restaurants were open. But what surprised me the most was the amount of dirty looks and remarks i got from people on the street because of my hat. I decided since i had brought my santa hat (thinking i was going to have a fun christmas) overseas i may as well use it.. bad idea. Everyone was so grinchy that day!
Headed back to the hostel, had a bite for dinner and headed to bed. Had to make sure i caught the changing of the guard on boxing day.. was not going to miss it for a third time.
