Oh, we will rock you.. again.. wow!
But let me tell you about my day before i rant on about the show again.. haha
My day started with the best sleep-in ever.. downside was that my phone died overnight so my alarm never went off.. grr
Had breaky at the hostel kitchen, then jumped online to see if tickets were available for tonight show.. was hoping to get 2 cheap tickets for Christine and I (a girl i met when i was here last at Wicked, kept in touch since :-D). After a distasterous search for cheap tickets, we worked out it was easier to buy singles.. so we called off catching up at the show.
So i went and got changed and headed out for the day.
I first went and visited this store called Dress Circle in London. Wow.. it is a shopp
ers heaven if you're into theatre :-D
Found 3 books i had been searching for all of 2009 in aus (and of course had no luck) and a cd i have been after for a while. Sadly the cd was out of stock.. but it has been ordered and will be sent home when they get it in stock :-) Did i mention free postage? Haha, i am so getting my london friends to order stuff for me from there if it's free postage to anywhere in the world.. rather than order online and pay for shipping.
After buying my books, was going to head to a discounted ticket booth and see what they had for an individual ticket, but decided to head to the theatre first and see what they had. Usually they have day tickets available (always cheaper) but i missed the time slot for them, so was going to ask them if there was a chance of discounted tickets being released before the show (1/2 hr before).. but saw that the top priced ticket was only 55 pound, so i was going to pay full price. But as the ticket guy was organising my seat (stalls, row k, seat 27) he asked if i was a student and i said yes. Suddenly my full priced ticket was reduced from 55 to 27.50 pound! I was so excited when this happened.. haha
Left the theatre on a super high and headed down oxford st. Came across a game store and noticed they had sims 3 at a reduced price on sale (still high, but lower than other places i had seen) so i went in and bought the game.
Headed back to the hostel for a bit but messaged christine on the way back to tell her the good news about my ticket. She asked me what seat i was in so i told her. 1/2 an hour later i got a message back saying she was able to buy the seat next to me for 30 pound through a promotion. Yay.. christine was coming! :-D
Loaded sims 3 onto my laptop and was ready to play.. but my laptop is so old that it doesnt have the required graphics card.. so the game is super slow :-(
So looks like i'll have to send it home as i cannot use it :-(
Went out for dinner (waited nearly 15 mins for my damn bill.. grr) and headed to the theatre. Met christine in the theatre then headed to our seats.
Oh, i love this show so much! I think being a part of it would be such an experience.
But what surprised me the most was how different the london version is to the version currently being staged in Stuttgart. I thought being a franchised production it would have to follow rules
(not super strict like wicked) about story content, basic choreography and so on.. but the shows are totally different to each other!
Yeah, the sets vary because the 2 theatres are different (the dominion is a permanent theatre for WWRY in London = more access to building the stage and sets to fit the show) in size, but i found a lot of scenes were different!
I think this made the show more interesting for me.. seeing all the changes :-)
This time i got to see a full cast bar sabrina (who plays scaramouche) which was cool.. had heard so much about louise (meat) and mazz (killer queen) who i didn't get to see last time. But i did get to see the ensemble member amanda coutts play scaramouche which was cool (saw coutts play meat last time).. apparently it's hard to see her as that character as sabrina is like our lucy.. never off.
A few muck ups which were gold by the cast.. the guy who plays brit (cannot remember his name.. gah!) at one stage forgot his lines from laughing too much at something when he was trying to tell us what he was called name wise.. was funny to see. After that, Lousie (meat) got a rope tangled and couldn't do her usual actions in a song, spent the whole time giggling about it.
No idea how i picked these up.. but i did :-S
After the show i went to stage door. Caught up with Peter (Galileo) again which was nice.. he remembered me from last time. He was kind enough to organise a new cast poster for me after i told him how much of a disaster my last one was (all signatures have nearly come off).. so hopefully i can pick it up tomorrow or
wed night after the show :-D
Decided to pop into maccas for a quick eat.. wanted to try their new toffee mcflurry and they weren't selling ice cream. Since when do maccas not sell ice cream? Gah!
So went to Boots instead (only thing open near me) to buy some drinks and lollies for tonight and tomorrow then back to the hostel.
