Went to bed around 1am after finishing posting on there and watching the fireworks.
Thought i'd try and get some sleep before the train.. boy was i wrong!
As soon as i got to bed, a new girl moved into my room at 1.30am and decided to make as much noise as she could (whilst turning on every light she could find). Then she called her boyfriend who was in a room down the hall to say that no one was in her room so that he could sleep in here for the night.
Umm.. didn't she realise there were 3 sets of bags and 3 beds made up already? Didn't she notice me trying to get some sleep??
Apparently not.. cause soon her boyfriend arrived and they started having a convo about where he could stay.. then he realised i was in the room and that all the beds were taken. She then shut up and they left the room.
Thought after that that i'd finally get some sleep.. pfft. Whatever..
4am the girls who had been in my room for the week (and trust me.. were annoying as hell) came back to the hostel from a night out on the town, turned on all the lights, had a shower, decided to make as much noise as possible.. then finally picked up all their bags and left. Pity they left the same day as i did.. grr
After so many interruptions, i ended up missing breakfast and slept in the extra 15 mins. Jumped on a train to the main station, then from there onto a train to berlin.
The ticket i had was meant to be a direct run from stuttgart to berlin, but when i asked the guy who worked for the train company where my train was leaving from.. he said there was actually no train that left from stuttgart to berlin directly, that the direct train to berlin left from frankfurt.. so i had to jump onto the frankfurt train to catch my berlin direct.
But because of the weather, the frankfurt train was delayed which meant that when i arrived there, i missed my berlin connection. So i had to catch yet another train, this time to hannover and get a train to berlin from there.
I got to hannover and again more confusion.. the train on one platform said it was going to berlin, so i got on it thinking it was leaving straight away.. only to realise it was a local train to berlin stopping all stations, so i quickly got off. That train didn't end up running anyway in the end.
The train i needed to catch arrived on the next platform 15 mins late.. so by the time i had arrived in berlin, i was 1/2 an hour to 45 mins later than i should have been. I was on a train for over 6 hours..
But when i arrived in Berlin, my relatives were there to greet me on the platform which was nice :-)
I even got flowers and a homemade card from their daughter Rika which is so cute.
Went back to their house.. had a heart attack on the way there though.. haha. No one bothered to tell me that they drive on the right hand side here!! It feels so weird.. and wrong driving on the right! The house i am staying in is very small.. but it is a typical german housing village. They even have little gardens for each house in one big yard!
Went for a wander around their area to see what was there, then headed to a friend of Martina's house (in the same building) to have dinner.
Then came back to the house i am staying in to unpack my bags. Decided to head to bed as i was so tired from no sleep the night before..
